UNIBEN students block high way in protest of N20,000 surcharge (video)

The University of Benin students have gone to the streets to protest a N20,000 surcharge imposed for late payment of tuition fees.

The penalty was recently enforced, much to the dismay of the students, by the University governing council led by the Vice Chancellor, Prof. Lilian Salami.

Vehicles are being barred from moving on the Lagos-Benin Expressway by students holding banners and burning car tyres in protest of the increase. This has caused considerable traffic congestion along the already congested expressway, which has stretched all the way to the Oluku by-pass.
