On Tuesday, there was some little drama at the Delta State Polytechnic Ozoro, as students celebrated the rector’s departure following the institution’s upgrade to the University of Science and Technology.

Students sweeping the Main Gate to express their joy was seen in videos and images uploaded online.

Ifeanyi Okowa, the Delta State governor, had put in place the required machinery to transform the Delta State Polytechnic Ozoro into the Delta State University of Science and Technology Ozoro.

He  made the announcement to the Delta State House of Assembly through speaker Sheriff Oborevwori, and the dismissal of the Rector has sparked widespread celebration among students and staff at the school.

One has to wonder what kind of tyranny they endured during his reign.
