Music Legend Victor Uwaifo dies aged 80

Sir Victor Uwaifo, a legendary singer and musician, has died.

On Saturday, his son Peter confirmed the news on his Facebook page.

In March, the ‘Guitar boy,’ as he was affectionately known, turned 80 years old.

Uwaifo is also the first professional musician to get the Member of the Order of the Niger National Merit Honours (MON).

The multi-instrumentalist and renowned virtual artist, whose songs “Joromi” and “Mammy Water” were hits till his death, was a multi-instrumentalist and a renowned virtual artist.

He also served as Nigeria’s first Commissioner for Arts, Culture, and Tourism.

As of the time of reporting, the cause of death was still unknown.
