The Kano State Hisbah Board has declared it a sin to share pre-wedding images of the daughter of Kano’s Emir, Zahrah Bayero.

Ms Zahrah’s exposed shoulders in pre-wedding images have sparked outrage among Hisbah, a religious police force infamous for punishing people for “immoral behaviour.”

Harun Ibn-Sina, the Kano Commander General of Hisbah, said in an interview with BBC Pidgin that the Emir’s daughter is not above the law and has failed to set a positive example for other Muslims.

The religious police official, according to BBC Pidgin, stated Muslims who shared the Emir daughter’s wedding images and videos had sinned.

“Hisbah boss Sheik Harun Ibn Sina say di Emir daughter na muslim wey no dey above di law and suppose lead by example if she wan blessings for her marriage.

“Di Hisbah boss also criticise pipo wey dey share di fotos and videos from di event saying na sin to share di materials,” BBC Pidgin reported.

Hisbah has previously prohibited the use of mannequins in the exhibition of clothing by tailors, supermarkets, and shop owners in the state. The religious police detained 40 youths in Kano in June for selling condoms and marijuana.
