Sporadic gunshots heard as LG boss and Immigration officers clash (video)

There was sporadic shooting at Agodi-Gate area of Ibadan on Wednesday after some immigration officers allegedly harassed a local government chairman and some of his aides.

It was learnt that the immigration agents allegedly slapped Mr. Shuaib Yusuf Oladayo, Chairman of Ibadan Ibadan North Local government area, Wednesday afternoon.

It is believed that the headquarters of Oyo State command of Nigeria Immigration Service (NIS) is located near to the Ibadan North local government Secretariat.

It was alleged that the unrest started when several youths who were demonstrating over the killing of a teenager in Ibadan stormed the area.

Recall it was earlier reported that the youths blocked major streets in Ibadan on Wednesday.

They blocked Mokola Road, parliament Road and Secretariat Road for some hours.

It was, however, learned that the council chairman and some of his close aides were harassed by the immigration authorities who were at the area when the youths were demonstrating.

This subsequently culminated into random gunshots which rented the air for several minutes.

It was not apparent what led to the confrontation but a source within the scene reported that certain people participating in the fight got varied degree of injuries.

Sporadic gunshots can be heard in the footage that has now gone viral which we acquired from oyoaffairs.
