The Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) has appointed Yemi Akinwonmi, its Deputy National Chairman (South), as acting National Chairman.

On Thursday, PDP spokesman Kola Ologbondiyan confirmed the news to reporters.

After a closed-door meeting of the National Working Committee in Abuja on Thursday, Akinwonmi was confirmed as the National Chairman.

He stated that the party’s National Executive Council (NEC) meeting has been rescheduled for Saturday.

Ologbondiyan said “Elder Yemi Akinwonmi was unanimously affirmed as Acting National Chairman.

“We will be holding our caucus and another NWC meeting tomorrow preparatory to holding our National Executive Council meeting at 12 ‘O’clock on Saturday.”

The confirmation comes after Uche Secondus, the PDP’s national chairman, was ordered by a Rivers State High Court to stop parading himself as the Party’s National Chairman.
