Court sacks Uche Secondus as PDP Chairman

Aug 24, 2021 | News

Prince Uche Secondus, the embattled National Chairman of the Peoples Democratic Party, PDP, has been fired by a High Court in Degema, Rivers State.

Justice O. Gbasam, a vacation judge, issued the order.

In an exparte ruling, the Court also expelled Mr.Secondus as a member of the PDP until the outcome of the matter before it, which was brought before it by certain aggrieved PDP members.

It will be recalled that a protracted crisis in the main opposition party had led to strong calls for Mr.Secondus’ resignation.

Secondus, however, has agreed to an early convention in October, when he is not anticipated to seek reelection, following a discussion with important stakeholders.

The fact that an exparte order was granted by a court in Rivers State gives fuel to the rumour that Gov. Nyesom Wike, who was pivotal in Mr.Secondus’ ascent, is hell-bent on removing him from office due to irreconcilable differences.
