NCDC Boss Ihekweazu appointed as WHO Assistant DG
Dr Chikwe Ihekweazu, the Director General of the Nigeria Center for Disease Control, has been named the World Health Organization (WHO) Head of Pandemic and Epidemic Intelligence. Dr. Ihekweazu was also named Assistant Director-General for Health Emergency Intelligence in Switzerland, in addition to his new position.
Dr Tedros Adhanom Ghebreyesus, Director-General of the World Health Organization, made this known in a tweet:
“Glad to appoint @Chikwe I as Head of the new @WHO Hub for pandemic & epidemic intelligence. He brings a wealth of experience, & will serve a dual role as the head of the Hub in Germany, & as Assistant Director-General for Health Emergency Intelligence in Switzerland. Welcome to WHO, my brother!”
