Sadiya Haruna, a Kannywood actress and social media blogger, was arrested by the Kano State Hisbah Board for “uploading sexual contents on her social media handles.”

According to reports, Haruna, a Kabuga Quarters resident, was arrested on Friday by Malam Aliyu Usman, the Head of Kano State Hisbah Board’s Surveillance Department.

She was then detained by Islamic police until early Monday, when she was taken before a Sharia court in the Sharada district of the state.

She was accused of posting obscene footages of herself dancing seductively and making sexual comments on her social media handles and YouTube channel, according to the First Information Report (FIR) filed against her.

The defendant was said to have pleaded guilty to a single charge of obscenity and indecent act, which is in violation of the Sharia Penal Code Law 2000 section 355.

Justice Ali Jibril Danzaki, the sitting judge, found her guilty and ordered her to attend a Darul Hadith Islamiyya session at Tudun Yola Quarters for a period of six months as punishment for her crime.

He further stated that the school’s head teacher and the Hisbah leadership will be monitoring her Islamiyya attendance.
