At least five farmers are believed to have been killed after being ambushed by gunmen on their way to their farmlands in Modakeke Osun State.

The incident, which occurred around 7 a.m. on Friday, August 20, created palpable fear and tension in the community as residents and police officers arrived on the scene to remove the farmers’ bodies.

SP Yemisi Opalola of the Osun Police Department confirmed the incident, saying:

“I heard some people were killed and the Commissioner of Police, Mr Olawale Olokode has deployed more of our men to the scene.

“Our men are doing everything possible to restore peace in the area.”
