Fancy Acholonu, Nigerian model based in the United States, has broken off her engagement to famed Nollywood actor Alexx Ekubo.

In May of this year, the pair, who had kept their romance private for years, announced their engagement.

After removing all photos of her ex-fiancé from her Instagram page on Wednesday, both prompted breakup rumours three months later. On the same day, the couple’s joint Instagram account, @falexxforever, was also deactivated.

The traditional wedding between the erstwhile lovebirds was set for November 20 in Imo state, with the church wedding set for November 27 in Lagos state.

Fancy announced the breakup on her Instagram account on Thursday, confirming rumours that the couple’s engagement had been called off.

“Hey guys I am writing to inform you all officially that I have ended my relationship and I have called off the wedding with Alex Ekubo,” she wrote in the post.

Although she acknowledged that the news would be shocking to many, she insisted that she had made the greatest option for herself because “it is important that everyone finds their happiness and lives in their truth.”
