Federal Government to re-introduce toll gates across the country

A new strategy for tollgates around the country has been authorised by the federal executive council (FEC).

The minister of works and housing, Babatunde Fashola, said this at a press conference on Wednesday.

The council approved the ‘Federal Roads and Bridges Tolling Policy and Regulations’ at its meeting on Wednesday, according to Tolu Ogunlesi, a presidential aide.

While the tolling system will prioritise the use of technology, the regulations contain suggested tolling fees for vehicles such as “Cars: N200; SUVs: N300; Private Buses: N300; Commercial Buses: N150, and Luxury Buses and Trucks: N500.”
