Young student commits suicide in Edo, Wills girlfriend his mobile phone
Solomon Oboh, a 23-year-old student at the Federal Polytechnic, Auchi, Edo State, committed suicide on Friday September 10.
The late Oboh, a National Diploma, ND 1 student of Public Administration, was discovered dangling in his room late at night same day according to Tribune Online.
According to one source, the suicide victim had been in class earlier that day when he had a less than pleasant experience, as he felt humiliated for being unable to correctly spell the words “computer technology” in front of his peers.
According to another source, Oboh left a brief suicide note behind, but did not reveal the whole text of the message.
According to the source, who requested anonymity, the dead directed that his phone be delivered to Sandra, whom he asked for forgiveness in his suicide note.
Sandra was identified as Oboh’s girlfriend and course mate, according to the source.
“Solomon was in class on Friday and left for home after class, we only came home later in the evening to find him dangling in the ceiling of his room at Bawack area of South Ibie.
“He was a very quiet boy who takes his academics very serious. He doesn’t go out and never showed any sign of depression or whatsoever,” the source explained.
When contacted, Mr Mustapha Oshiobugie, a spokesman for the Polytechnic, confirmed the occurrence but stated that he had not yet been fully briefed on the details.
