Gunmen storm Ministry, cart away N100 million
Gunmen suspected of being armed robbers stormed the Nasarawa State Ministry of Finance, Budget, and Planning in Lafia, stealing N100 million.
The gunmen stormed the ministry on Thursday afternoon, shooting indiscriminately, according to reports.
It was also discovered that the assailants followed several ministry employees to a commercial bank to withdraw money for the ministry.
The N100 million was allegedly seized at gunpoint inside the ministry’s premises, which is close to the State’s Accountant General’s Office, where some security personnel were stationed.
When journalists contacted the state Police Public Relations Officer (PPRO), ASP Ramhan Nansel, about the development, he claimed the case had not yet been submitted to the command.
He told correspondents that he couldn’t corroborate the occurrence because “it wasn’t reported to the police”
